God's Assignment

This is a devotion sent to us in our email today from our friend Bill Moeny. We studied with him and some others for several years through the course "Experiencing God" and other great studies and have learned so much from them. He owns his own Business that God led him to start and it's been encouraging to see what God alone has done through them. His wife, MaryLee, has been a huge encouragement to me too as I was learning to be a wife and mother, and gained so many important lessons from the few times I've studied with her.

God's Assignment

"My God will provide for all of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:19

Have you ever been in a situation where, unless God intervenes, your business would perish?  We have been, last week.

God provided for us in the wonderful and amazing way, just as He said He would.  You see, the Bible is true.  It is the very word of God.  But you have to believe it for it to be effective in your life. Hebrews 11:6 tells us
"Without faith, it is impossible to please God."Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things unseen."

How have you structured your business?  Have you carefully sought God's plan for your business?  Has He told you things that seemed very risky?  Has your response to those things been: "I could never do that"?  Because of that observation, have you shied away from what He was telling you to do?

You see, that is a correct observation - you cannot do it without
Christ doing it through you (John 15:5).

But either Philippians 4:13 is true:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," or it is not.  If it is true, then we can never say "no" to God's command because we cannot do it.  We have to stand on the foundation of faith and say "yes" to the assignment He has for us, sometimes with trembling hands.  Now, if it is our idea, God has no obligation to provide for us nor bless us in it.  He blesses His assignments, not our plans.

God's assignments will always be God-sized.  A good way to tell that the assignment is from Him is that we will not be able to do it on our own.

As we accept the assignment and move out in faith - believing His command is true and His promises are true, we will find ourselves moving well beyond our comfort zone.  We will find ourselves moving beyond visible support.  We will find ourselves moving into a position where, unless God intervenes and provides for us, the business will perish.

That is exactly where God wants us to be – totally and unequivocally dependent on Him.  As we trust Him in such a circumstance, He can now do anything through us He chooses to do.

Then we come to experience Him in a whole new way.  We come to experience Him demonstrating the faithfulness and truthfulness of His promises.

The Bible comes alive to us in a way it never has before.  And we come to experience God doing things through us we never could have imagined.

Are you ready to say "yes" to God's impossible command?  Are you ready to embrace the impossible and praise Him for it?

I re got the girls up and dressed warmly still with pjs underneath buckled them all in the car. now we sit for a few more minutes. one crying 'ama!' One crying ' I really want to go home and sleep!' thankfully daddy will be along for this next ride to get us all tucked in and home safely once again. Im sure this will be one of though stories we tell to our kids over and over. We do pretty well with just one car most of the time but every once in a while we wish we had another. My Petpeeve

It makes me so sad to see her like this. I told her we couldn't go to her cousin's birthday and she said no I am better. I didn't argue but asked her if that would be kind to go to someones house when your sick and get them sick and she said no that's not nice. If she understands that is rude why cant grown adults get it.

(P.S. she is all better now and thankfully we all seem to be healthy now.)

Hawaiian Green Beans

Made a delicious side dish tonight off the top of my head. Love it when inspiration hits! Sent it to Taste of Home in case they like it too. Here's the recipe if you want to try it!
